One of our major projects this year is turning an old forgotten building into a COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER. It began with seeing a need, which sparked into a vision. We began to toss around the idea of a central, neutral place where we could host pastoral events, marriage conferences, health care education. The possibilities are endless. However, it was just an idea in our head. Last year we began to pray about it. During our furlough, we witnessed an amazing response to this proposal of replacing the old roof which was falling down and making this concrete structure something once again.
It was as if God couldn’t wait for us to get started. The within the first few weeks of being in the states, a team was ready to come help. The next week, a check came in with the funds to cover a new roof, the following week, another team was wanting to come and help! It was absolutely incredible to see how a vision was endorsed by God and suddenly everything was lined up and ready to go. Once we got back to Honduras we began to purchase the metal and supplies needed for the project to get it ready for the teams.
The first team we had was from Crosspointe church, in Ohio. They sent down three guys to help put a porch on the front of the learning center.
The second team was from the Berean church, in Indiana. They also sent down a group of three. Two of them worked on cutting the metal and welding the trusses. The third part of the team is a lovely young lady who has been helping us in the clinic getting ready for our annual brigade in two weeks.
The third team also came from Crosspointe church in Ohio. This time they sent four guys to help put on the roof. They worked so quickly that they found other jobs to keep them occupied. One of the guys spent most of the week measuring, trimming hanging doors in the guest side of the duplex. A project that has been sitting for about 3 years now. Now our guests will have doors on their bedrooms in place of sheets.
We still need to do some painting to refresh the building, along doors and windows. Lord willing, we can have it ready in time for our next pastoral training event.
